What have you done to my hair Mummy

I just had to cut Abigael's fringe (bangs) as it was getting into her eyes. However before I had the chance to cut to, I had to find a way to keep it out of her eyes as it really annoyed her. I don't think that in the future she will allow me to do it again

Funny things to remember

I know that as parents we want to remember the big milestones in our babies lives like crawling, first words and walking however there are also the small funny things that I like to remember.

When Daniel was a baby he loved watching adverts (I know, shock, horror I let my children watch TV), it got to the point that no matter what he was doing - if a certain advert come on the TV he would stop dead in his tracks and watch the advert until it was finished. The advert was for an on-line card company and to be fair the theme tune was very catchy. I wanted to keep a record of it as it makes me laugh how funny he was when the advert came on.

Well now that Abigael is here, the same thing is happening again. A few nights ago I was giving her her finally feed and trying to put her to bed. I was carrying a sleeping girl to her room when her advert came one which happens to be an insurance advert and she was wide awake trying to see the TV and catch the advert. I love the funny little things that my kids do doing the day that make me laugh and the adverts they enjoy is just one of them.

Its been a while

It has now been over a month since my last post. I really don't have a reason however it is difficult to sit down and think of things to write about. So I thought that I would give you some little bits of Brewer life along with some pictures.

* Yesterday was Luke's birthday. It is difficult to fully celebrate a birthday when you have to go to work for the day however once Luke got back from work we were able to go for a walk and eat homemade dinner and homemade sticky toffee pudding. We will fully celebrate this weekend with the rest of the family.

*Last Saturday Luke and I managed to go to a movie just the two of us. This is the first time we have been to the movies together in over two years - I know that is sad however if you know my daughter you will understand that it is very difficult to be away from her for that length of time. She did however not cry the entire time we were out which gives me hope for the future.

*Talking about Abigael - she is growing into a real little girl. I honestly think that the reason she is not crawling yet is because she does not believe she should be placed on her tummy. She could spend hours just sitting and playing - mainly trying to take whatever toy Daniel is playing with. She adores her food and would eat all day if you let her - she is willing to try anything and normally at dinner she eats more then Daniel does. She loves her brother and laughs at most things he does (including when he cries). Daniel loves to push her around the house in her chair and she just happily enjoys the ride. Although she is a mummy's girl, one of her favourite times of the day is when Luke comes home from work. When the door opens and he says hello - she starts grinning and tries to see around the door to get a good look at her Daddy.

*Daniel is growing into a great little boy who adores his sister and loves anything to do with cars, trains and trucks. He spends his days playing with cars, trucks and anything else with wheels (in fact, I just went and got him from his nap and the first thing he said was Car) . He does not mind Abigael playing with him however if she messes up his line of cars we do have to move Abigael and sort the problem. He is beginning to learn his numbers which is very funny because he knows 2 and 3 very well and 1 is always forgotten. At the moment he is obsessed with a puzzle. This puzzle contains 45 pieces and we will do it at least 3 times a day. However he is amazing at it - if you complete the outside of the puzzle, he will complete the middle without much help. Although he is a typical boy in that he loves climbing all over Daddy, he understands that he has to be gentle with Abigael and other babies and will therefore spend his time holding her hand, kissing on her and making sure she is OK.

*The first picture shows Daniel and his friend Imogen. Imogen is about 18 months and she talks very well. In fact - when she came over to visit she walked in the house and said 'hello Daniel and Abigael' and my son turned to her and yelled 'see'. This was his way of telling her to come to his room. It makes me laugh at the difference between boys and girls. Imogen will talk in little sentences whereas Daniel states his option with one or two words (one is normally car, truck or train and the other is Mummy). Please don't get me wrong - Daniel can say many words and some sentences however talking is not on the top of his 'to do list' - it comes somewhere behind playing, running, sorting his cars, and looking at books.

Daniel's 2nd Birthday

On Jan 4th my little boy turned two years old. It is amazing to me how long 9 months felt while we were waiting for him to grow and how quickly time has gone since he arrived at 3:18pm on 4th Jan 2008.

Since Daniel's birthday landed on a Monday this year, we decided to have a family day with just the 4 of us and then celebrate with family, presents and cake the following weekend.

On the Monday we headed to Deep Sea World located next to the Forth Rail Bridge. We figured that due to the weather (snowing and icy) and time (we got there for the 10am opening) there would be few people and we would be able to run around without worrying about other people. Well I have to say that Daniel was very impressed with the fish and in fact - he wanted to get into the water and swim with them. However much Daniel was excited it was nothing compared to Daddy once we entered the underwater tunnel. This tunnel allowed you to walk through a tank that carried sharks and all sorts of other fish. It was great watching Daniel's and Luke's reaction to the sharks swimming over their heads. We ended the day watching movies and having some good family time.

The following Saturday we went through to my Dad's where Daniel got to go sledging for the first time and play with his cousin (well sort of) Cameron. He got a tent Mack (from the movie Cars) from his Granddad and Aunt Jennie and a number of other things.

On Sunday we celebrated at home with Aunty Rachel, Uncle Werner and Grannie. Daniel had great fun opening all his presents which included a toy Mack (notice a theme going here), lots of books, a swing and a car garage which Daniel has not stopped playing with since. We ended the day with a Cars Birthday cake with Daniel blowing out candles and eating the icing.

A mixed Christmas

Christmas 2009, what can I say about it - there was plenty of laughing and gift giving however there was also equal amounts of crying and lack of sleep. A few days before Christmas, I took Abigael to the doctors as she had been coughing during the night. It turned out that she needed antibiotics for a chest infection, this lead to holding her down every time we tried to give the antibiotics and sleeping most of the night with Mummy while Daddy was kicked out of the bed so that at least one of us could get some sleep. Therefore Abigael really did not feel well over the Christmas holidays which meant little rest for her or Mummy as no one could make her feel better except Mummy. She did however get some amazing and beautiful gifts that she is starting to really enjoy. She loves her little drum which allows her to sit and play with Daniel.

Daniel did not sleep well Christmas Eve which meant that we were all exhausted on Christmas day however I am still overwhelmed by the amount of gifts people gave to Daniel and Abigael. Daniel had a great time opening gifts and playing with his new toys. Due to his love of the movie Cars - most of his gifts where related to this. The main gift that Luke and I bought him was a moving dinosaur, I was very excited about it however as it turns out - Daniel is scared of it and in fact tries to put it into the bin whenever he can. Due to the lack of sleep we moved Christmas dinner to the evening which as it turned out was not the best idea as by this point Daniel was tired and cried throughout dinner. Dinner did taste amazing mainly due to the turkey that Luke prepared and cooked.

Christmas was therefore a mix of emotions, wonderful gifts were given and time spent with family however due to the lack of sleep - Luke and I did struggle to fully enjoy it. Hopefully as the kids get older, Christmas will become easier on all of us.

Daniel and Abigael

I need to measure before I can start building the work bench

Just checking that it is tight enough

Mummy, this is how you use a work bench

OK Abby, this is how you stack the cars.

Thanks for holding my hand however I'm trying to teach you something.

Abby had enough of playing cars

Could you get more girly?

Could you get more of a boy, car on the shirt and bus in hand.
