This past week Luke, Daniel and I went away on holiday. We headed to a town called Dunoon, which is North West from here and spent a week in a little cottage doing very little. My mum was kind enough to watch Daniel for the first part of the week so that Luke and I could spend some time together. I think that Luke and I spent most of that alone time talking about Daniel and how we miss him. Luke and I spent the days driving around the amazing Lochs and just enjoying what God created. It was truly beautiful and peaceful. The rest of the week was spent going for walks with Daniel and just enjoying the time as a family with no worries or stress. The pictures below will give you an idea of the beauty we saw however nothing compares to the real thing.

Cow's Lick
Yesterday, my mum (Jackie), Daniel and I went to a local animal park to enjoy feeding the animals and the beautiful weather. We met lots of animals there including a zebra, kangaroos and goats however my favourite were the Highland cows. I just love Highland cows and nothing says Scotland more to me then a big hairy highland cow.

Peanut Butter
Luke being the typical American boy loves to have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for his lunch. However he has to have Skippy peanut butter and you can only get this brand in a few places in Scotland. Therefore last Saturday Daniel and I headed to the store to stock up on peanut butter and came home with 6 big jars. Well, while I was making dinner tonight, Daniel decided that the peanut butter would make great stacking blocks and therefore moved the jars from the kitchen to the living room. From the pictures you can tell he thought he was a very clever little man for lifting the heavy jars by himself.

Fun at the beach
As Luke had Monday off work due to Easter, we decided to take advantage of the weather and head to the beach. Daniel was really funny to watch, he was amazed by the sand under his shoes and spent a lot of time just moving his feet in the sand. When we finally got down to the water, Daniel showed no fear and headed straight into the water. Don't worry, we managed to catch him before he got his feet all the way in.
I love spending days like this because it reminds me of the amazing world we live in. For Daniel, the beach was an amazing new place to explore and I love to watch him get excited about things I have taken for granted will be there. The beach is one of my favourite places to spend time, I love just listening to the waves and watching people hold hands as they walk along the sand. Before Daniel was born, Luke and I would finish work and head to the beach and just enjoy walking together. Now we enjoy running after Daniel as he heads straight into the water.

Daniel knows the routine better then I do.
At the moment (before I go on Maternity leave), I am home with Daniel on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. These days are normally spend mostly at home as I am tired from working the other days of the week. The mornings at home are pretty routine, Daniel and I get up around 8 and go downstairs to have breakfast and play until about 9. At this point, I gather up all my energy and head upstairs to clean teeth and get Daniel dressed. I normally get a load of washing and then head back downstairs with Daniel picking up any clothes that I drop on the way. We then head to the living room and tidy up, hoover the floor and clean our coffee table where Daniel has breakfast.

The reason I am telling you this is that on Thursday, I was at work and called home at around 9:30. My mum was picking up Daniel so that Luke could study for the day. Luke tells me on the phone that Daniel had already taken him to the washing machine and opened the door for him and at that moment Daniel was taking my mum to the dishwasher to open it.
I never realised Daniel paid so much attention to me and the things we do each morning until I heard this. I love the fact that Daniel is paying so much attention and learning things.

Not the Grass!
When I got home from work this afternoon, I found Daniel outside playing, as you can tell from the pictures he was not bothered about too many clothes. The first two pictures show how Daniel can explore the garden and touch the flowers we have. However the second two pictures show what Daniel does when you put him on the grass with no shoes. He just does not like the feeling under his feet, he will do everything not to touch the grass and if he does have to put his feet down then he will make sure that only one touches the grass. It is really funny to watch because Daniel is laughing at the same time.
Look at me Mummy.
